The Red Wolves lost saturday to a determined LSU team, 25-15. Sunny skies, a fast track and a very good referee proved too much for the Red Wolves to accept. After starting out on fire and posting a 12-0 lead in the first 12 minutes of the game, ASU withdrew into their individual shells and scored a total of 3 points in the next 68 minutes. LSU clawed back and trailed by 12-5 at half.
ASU switched ends of the field, had a brisk breeze at their backs, added three substitutions to increase the intensity level and promptly fell on their collective faces. Meanwhile, LSU out hustled, beat ASU at the breakdown, and played as a team. LSU tied it at 12-12, went up on foolish play by the Red Wolves 15-12, ASU managed to tie it 15 to 15, only to ignore the warnings of a very capable referee and get yellow carded with 12 minutes to play. A selfish, much warned against pass, led to LSU's final score. ASU was left holding the bag.
Thanks to LSU for their team work, intensity and discipline. Maybe we can learn from this group. We will now endeavor to get fitter, stronger and faster for the next 10 weeks. Additionally, there are questions that must be answered regarding teamwork and unselfishness. The coaching staff is looking forward to the challenge.
