Muddy Start to a Season

Even the soggy fields and slippery playing conditions didn't deter the pack of Red Wolves from starting their Spring season on a high note. It seemed to be a well contested rugby match from the kiickoff, as the Little Rock RFC used every ounce of experience and determination to hold ASU to a 10-3 lead at the break.  Little Rock, boasting the services of a number of ASU alumni, were out to put to test the coachings of their revamped program against a youthful and eager to learn pack of ASU ruggers.

The second half told a different story as the Red Wolves gained a little composure and keyed in on first half mistakes. ASU also exploited weaknesses in the Little Rock defence to run up 34 points, that went by unanswered to bring the final score to 44-3. A convincing win for the Red Wolves who literally got their feet wet in both ground conditions and in teachings – playing for the first time under the helms of Head Coach Matt Huckaby and gelling well as a new look Spring 2010 team.
